New Year’s Eve, Now What

Hello lovely … welcome to my crazy lil RV-World I’m so glad you stopped in. It’s so cold here in Pennsylvania that I have to say I’m looking forward to heading to Florida tomorrow afternoon. I pray that you and your family have an amazing night saying, “goodbye to 2017 and saying hello to 2018”.

My morning started before 6am and I was out the door before 7:30… as I drove in silence I kept thinking about the new year that lies ahead.

Like most of you I often get stressed out thinking about waking up on Jan 1st if I don’t have goals, a list of resolutions, my one little word chosen, and my next 12 months mapped out … just sitting here typing this I feel a bead of sweat forming on my forehead.

So this morning while sharing coffee with a friend I made myself a promise I was not going to allow tonight to become a stressful night of trying to get all my 2018 ducks in a row !

Because I have come to realize that I don’t have ducks … I have squirrels and they are not in a row they are actually at a rave.. #lifeasiknowit.

You see today is suppose to be a day of celebration but all too often it starts to loose its luster … because we try to celebrate from the outside in INSTEAD of celebrating from the inside out.

Many times I have allowed my joy of the new year to be robbed when I cloud it with unrealistic expectations and unfair comparisons.

And before you know it we found ourselves feeling alone and dissatisfied while listening to Barry Manilow’s song; “It’s Just Another New Year’s Eve”.

It is good to look back at the previous year to see the many experiences, good and bad, we have faced. We must believe they are stepping stones in our lives that help us grow.

Certainly, it is important for us to learn from our past and to incorporate the wisdom we have obtained to help us in the future. No matter the situation, the Lord is with us. He will lead and guide us as we seek Him.

Isaiah 58:11 (NIV) teaches us:

“The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.”

I challenge you this beautiful New Year’s Eve before you get sucked into the hype, remember that tonight is no more special than any other day God wrote for you. And to celebrate life … your life and even if it doesn’t look like someone else’s it’s okay . You life is your own unique story.

Our lives will be full of blessings in the New Year as we trust God, share His love with those around us, and walk into each new day with great confidence of God’s faithfulness.

Lamentations 3:23 (NLT):

“Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.”

Happy New Year ….. take it slow and steady!

Be blessed, be bold, and be you.
